I thought these sewing machine threads would be a great set of objects for still life. I realized that there were brand markings on each of them, but because I knew good photos would come out of them I decided to rely on the editing to erase the brand names. And I think I did pretty well, you almost can't tell that there was something written on them. I used basic white paper for the background and positioned myself near the window to benefit from the natural light. I really like the last image, it looks more artistic and unique, I felt like a real photographer when I took it.
Marriage
In the Distance (Underpainting)
Chaos (Watercolor)
Two Roses (Sponge)
The next set of objects are stuff I often use for my art projects, ribbons and decorative flowers. I chose to take these photos outside to get a different background and more light. I tried lots of different things, and arrangement hem it a lot of different ways, they are not my favorite photographs but I am still satisfied with the final outcome. I used some of the smaller flowers to add interest and more objects, I also included them in another set of images because I find they fit well with the other object too.
Face Down
Sick Flower (Palette Knife)
Closer (Plastic Wrap)
Flying Away (Paint Daubs)
I have seen a lot of still life photography including flowers and petals, and those were always my favorites. I do not have any flowers at my home and can't bring myself to buy some just for the sack of a photograph. I was walking around look for things to photograph for my still life project, and found a pretty violet flower bush with lots of unused petals that had fallen to the ground. Thats when I tried to arrange them, and thankfully they were a lot so I didn't need to pick flowers off the bush. And from that came these 4 images, which aren's as pretty as the ones on the internet but for my first try not to bad.
Reflection
The box (Colored Pencil)
All alone (Cutout)
Rainy Days (Dry Brush)
The subject I used for these photographs is a hair jewel that I made myself using some of the flowers I also used in some photos above. I also used a simple white background for this set of photos. I tried to come up with creative ideas and try out different things. That is how I got the idea with the small mirrors in the first picture, I really like the light effect it produces. I also think the composition looks nice. The second picture is a bit simpler but I really like the filter on it, I also think the shadow look really nice. For the two other pictures I tried something completely different, I used a clear plastic box that I put underwater to create these droplets. Then I positioned my subject inside the box and finally I shot my pictures, I think the effect created looks really nice.
Texture Rainbow
Tangled (Rough Pastels)
Craft Store Poster (Poster Edges)
Ribbons Collection(Smudge Stick)
I have a REALLY big ribbon collection, and decided to take out a couple for a photoshoot. I tried to choose ribbons that somewhat made a rainbow, but I don't think I succeeded regarding that. I also wanted to change up the background so I made it green, not sure if that was a wise choice but at least the photos look different and maybe more interesting. I think I did ok with the composition, it is pretty basic but at the time I didn't really have much inspiration and just did what came up to my mind. I do not want to reshoot it because I kind of like how by looking at the photos you can feel me trying, even if the photographs are not great.
